I’m a father, partner, organizer, grad student, and sometimes-writer living in Toronto.
A bit more: I’m a doctoral student in the Faculty of Environmental and Urban Change at York University, where I study social movements and autonomy. I received my master’s degree from FLACSO- Ecuador. In between my master’s and doctoral work, I was the Director of International Education with the Mexico-US Solidarity Network, coordinating and teaching on a semester abroad program that brings student-activists to the Zapatista good government centre of Oventic, peasant communities in Tlaxcala resisting GMOs, and radical squatters’ movements in Mexico City. I also did anti-foreclosure and eviction organizing in Chicago, was a human rights observer in the Intag region of Ecuador, where peasant communities are resisting Canadian and Ecuadorian copper mining, and collaborated with undocumented Colombian refugees organizing for their rights in Quito.
